With 420 hp pumping from its 3.6-liter tin turbo v6, the new version of Cadillac’s luxury sedan recorded an 8:14.10 lap around the “Green Hell.” That’s almost six seconds faster than the first-generation CTS-V did a decade ago. That time also makes it quicker around the course than a BMW 1M Coupe.
Cadillac built an ad campaign out of testing its smaller ATS sport sedan, which targets BMW 3 Series buyers, on the Nurburgring. Now the company seems to be gearing up for a similar performance-oriented marketing strategy with the newly enlarged CTS.
“The Nürburgring’s extreme conditions allow us to push cars to the limits of stability, steering, braking, ride and handling,” said Dave Leone, CTS executive chief engineer, Performance Luxury Vehicles. “The new CTS models had a lot to live up to considering the nameplate’s history of outstanding performance, and we were not disappointed.”
Despite being bigger, the new car is actually 200 lbs lighter than its predecessor. Customers will be able to choose between a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder base model, a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated six, and the new twin turbo V6.

Hmmm, something about a "tin turbo" makes me think reliability maybe an issue ;)
